The annual parade of stars on the red carpet has come and gone. I didn't watch the Oscars last night. I hung out at a ball field and went out to eat with an old friend instead. I can say I didn't see one movie, but I love a pretty dress, just like any good woman should. Though I hear there was a barely mint princess dress fit for a 10 year old's birthday party, fishtail flops, and long trains that were being stepped on all night. The belabored question of, "Who are you wearing?" was asked an untold number of times.
This issue of what you are wearing is actually a very important one. So, what then shall we put on?
The night is far spent, the day is at hand:
let us therefore cast off the works of darkness,
and let us put on the armour of light.
Romans 13:12
For as many of you as have been baptized
into Christ have put on Christ.
Galatians 3:27
And that ye put on the new man,
which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness.
Ephesians 4:24
Put on the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11
Put on therefore, as the elect of God,
holy and beloved, bowels of mercies,
kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness,
longsuffering; forbearing one another,
and forgiving one another,
if any man have a quarrel against any:
even as Christ forgave you,
so also do ye.
Colossians 3:12-13
And above all these things put on charity (love),
which is the bond of perfectness.
Colossians 3:14

OH I don't like when they ask that question; Who are you wearing? I do have kind of a sick fantasy that I would love to see on the red carpet. I would love for a woman to show up with a real fur and when asked who she is wearing, she could say something like Bambi. I know I have a sick sense of humor.
Seriously a better answer would be: I have on Jesus. Can't you tell? Keep that light shining.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who didn't watch the Oscars!
Great post! And something we definitely need to think about every day. Thanks for the reminder!
What a wonderful way to relate "fashion" with scripture! Super reflection! Thank you! Cathy
wonderful post! thanks! i, too, do not watch the oscars and actually grow weary with the whole fascination with the stars and what they're doing and wearing. i miss the good ol' icons--katherine hepburn, charleton heston, yul brynner, clark gable...{sigh} (when men were men and women were glad they were! :) )
greg's comment cracked me up! (how about wearing Punxatawney Phil if he gives a bad prediction!?)
but, really, you hit it right on the head--we should be wearing Jesus and His armor and be clothed beautifully in His righteousness. thank you for such a great application to a worldly event! :)
I didn't watch the Oscars either. I did check out the dresses on Yahoo the next day though I'm not quite sure why... I love how you related the question "Who are you wearing?" to scripture. Thank you for the encouragement.
Ditto ~ Didn't watch the Oscars. I like your wardrobe.....Putting on kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness and longsuffering!!!
That styling ~~~~
LOL:Wanda
I'd love for someone to ask who I'm wearing. Jesus, I'm wearing Jesus. I'm wearing His righteousness. Isaiah 61:10 Great post, Angie!!
Great encouragement. I like the thought that we are to 'put off' and 'put on'. Blessings.
This I Do...
This is the most perfect post about any Awards show I've ever read...nicely done!
I love a pretty dress too, but I'd rather put on Christ's new creation than any man's or woman's earthly one.
Right on, Sista!
oh ya!! this is sooooo good!!!
This is superb! I love the analogy! You are an awesome teacher Angie! =)
I had nothing to wear until Jesus came and clothed me.
I loved your post!!! It was great. connie
