are you wilted?

My devotional at Faith Lifts today...

“I’ll water it later,” I thought as I noticed a houseplant that was beginning to wilt. It was only slightly under-watered and I was very busy getting ready for a big vacation so I did not have time to tend to it.

This same thing occurred two more times. Each time I noticed the plant, it hung lower and lower until finally the leaves were facing the ground as if downcast. If I had not taken the time to finally water it before our vacation, it surely would not have made it.

Likewise, when we get caught up in the busyness of life and put off the watering of God’s word to our hearts, we too can become wilted and downcast. We have a hard time overcoming the many difficulties that come up in life.

When we meditate on His precepts day and night, we are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. We prosper at whatever we do (Psalm 1:2-3).

Let us be careful to not procrastinate as I did with my plant. The rewards are great. We are full of life and rejuvenated. We are able to bear fruit that can be offered to others for their nourishment. Our faces will be radiant and lifted up, as with my plant that was finally watered, giving glory and praise to our Maker.

Just beautiful, Angie -- it's so important not to get to busy for the things that really matter. Thank you for the lovely sip of Living Water today! (And for reminding me about my poor plant on my doorstep that I need to go water -- right now! :D )

Another "Amen" post.

I procrastinate much too often, both with my plants and myself.

I really like your analogy with your houseplant. I like to think on those Scriputes in Psalm 1. It was a passage my dad taughts us as kids. "...Whose leaf does not wither." Well watered with the Word! That's the only way to go! Thanks for the reminder my friend!

Have a great weekend :)

This was a beautiful reminder.
It's so easy to get caught up in life that we forget to turn our thoughts to God first.
From that place only goodness can thrive and grow.
Blessings to you

Your visual teaching is so easy to understand. You take a simple thing we all understand, and give it deep meaning.

You are a good teacher Angie, I learn from you.

Oh Angie, this is so true! I especially liked your thought - Let us be careful to not procrastinate as I did with my plant - I am having a really hard time staying motivated during this time. Thank you.

Truly, I can empathize with you! The illustration of the plant has "Cathy" written all over it. My life is perky some days and wilted on others. Life is just like that. But ThanK God he is such a wonderful gardener. Being blessed by the rain of grace we are all rejuvenated. Thank you for this wonderful post.!!!
