footprints in the carpet

I am blessed to have hardwood floors in my new home, but the bedrooms and other living spaces have carpet. I am one of those silly women who revels in vacuuming and seeing the neatly spaced lines left behind. I have a systematic way of vacuuming where I leave the room without any footprints.

That is obviously short-lived though. All too soon, small feet, tennis shoe tracks, and large boot prints trail from one room to the other.

In the push and pull of my vacuum, I ask myself—what are the prints I will leave behind today in my children’s lives, as I help my husband, or in a conversation with a new neighbor? Consider the prints left behind in the tracks of time as Holy Spirit leads you through the day.

You brought back memories of when we lived in Santa Barbara in the 70's and "Shag" carpet was the thing.
Not only did you vacuum it, then you raked it and locked the children outside, because the footprint were deep!!! Just kidding I would injoy it for 30 seconds before tracks were everywhere.

What footprints did I leave today...Wonderful thoughts to live by.

Yes, Wanda, it used to be my job to vacuum then rake our shag.

God bless you, Amrita.

I often wonder if I have left foot prints in the lives of other people. I like to think that I have. Made me think today Angie.

"What are the prints I will leave behind in the lives of my children?"

This really spoke to me. It's a daily process, isn't it?

Oh I pray that as I confess my sins, the Lord will make up for all the gaps, all the weaknesses in my life in raising my children. I pray that He will do His wonderful work. I am weak, but He is strong.

BTW, I've missed you, too.

I have the same feeling about vacuuming and getting out of a room without leaving my footprints but like you very soon they are everywhere again.

It is most important the footprints that we are leaving behind because wheather we know it are not someone is following behind. I know that I sure want mine to be leading in the right way and in the right direction. great post. connie from texas

Mmm... what are my footprints leaving behind? What example have I been? Have I said the kind words that I needed to? Or in some cases, the honest, but hard to say words... thank you for making me think.
