Mommy, will you help me with my Legos? Mommy, I’m hungry. Mommy, he’s being mean to me. Mommy, my head hurts. The struggles and petitions are endless for a mother. Just yesterday, the demands and questions were so frequent that I couldn’t seem to bare it anymore. I told my children, “That’s it! No more coming to Mommy with problems, only good things!”
As the seemingly selfish words slipped out of my mouth, I reflected on the many times a day that I go to Abba, Daddy God, bombarding Him with my own similar appeals.
Paul tells us in Philippians “…in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Had my prayers and petitions been offered with thanksgiving? My own children sure had not and I knew how that felt. Filled with remorse, my heart turned to Abba with a renewed sense of gratitude.
We are thankful that He is mighty and powerful to hear and answer the many requests of a needy and hurting world without growing tired, weary, or burdened. With hearts full of praise, we rejoice knowing that Jesus died for us and His precious blood atones for our sins. We are now called children of God, able to call on the Most High, Creator of the universe!
Suddenly, I am thankful for healthy children who can ask me for help. I am grateful I have the ability to meet their needs through Christ. At once, the peace of God which passes all understanding was guarding my heart and mind just as His word promises. As my perspective was transformed, my dear ones responded in like manner. May our prayers and supplications always be accompanied with praise and thanksgiving to our loving and faithful Father!

I'm glad that it's in our everyday lives that Abba shows us so clearly the integrity and power of His word. His mercy and gentleness as He exposes our humanity through the suddenlies such as you speak of here are the stuff of great thanksgiving! As a very visual person, being able to suddenly see myself in the light He pours over my relating to everything is a powerful teacher. Thanks for this, Angie!
Didn't Jesus say "come little children?" I think it is important to let them come to us again and again but at times we must say No just as God says No to some of our wishes.
I too get tired of the Daddy Daddy thing but try to remember that a day will come when I will sit by the phone waiting for it to ring, hopeing to hear the word Daddy on the other end.
Great post today!!
Have a Blessed day,
Greg

Beautiful, Angie. Those little voices can wear you down, but it's so good to know that our heavenly Father never tires, never sleeps.
Beautiful post Angie! Reminds me of the verse in Psalm 68. I am thankful for your reminder to come to HIM with thanksgiving, even with our problems! What a GOD we serve, who "daily bears our burdens" !
I'm not so certain that I'm a fan of memes but here's one that promises some interesting results . . .
1. Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. If you are into furthering this meme, then tag someone else.
FYI . . . I've already tagged Suz @ madeforjoy :)
Oops . . . my fingers are broken. That should be, "go to page 125." :)

It is good to give praise to our Lord. What a neat application God showed you about giving Him thanks. And a renewed determination as a mom to your dear children. Thanks for sharing that. I needed to hear that today.
